1 year Vimcar in the UK

1 year Vimcar in the UK

Next to the DACH region, the UK is currently the second core market for the Vimcar sales team. After our first year active in the UK, we did a short retrospective with our UK Country Manager, Ronald Clancy, to hear his insights on the successes and challenges of this exciting first year.

Vimcar has now been live in the UK for 1 year! Looking back, how did the year go?

Removing the large global pandemic and recession shaped elephant in the room, overall I would say it was a very good year. At the start of 2020 there was no one fully focused directly on the UK market and next month there will be 14 UK specific team members and we’re still growing. Everyone has done an exceptional job building a real collaborative, caring and supportive team atmosphere. Joining a new company can be stressful enough as it is but doing it remotely, during a global pandemic (with all it’s doubt and isolation) and many members of the team having moved to Berlin not knowing anyone is super difficult. I’ve been amazed by the resilience in the team. It is one of the best teams I have worked in.

I could write something in line with a 19th century Russian novel here with everything we have learned but I think the key thing is how much our clients in the UK love the Fleet Geo product. Product and Tech have done a really fantastic job with the simplicity, design and ease of use and they have added some great additional functionalities over the past year. With some tinkering to our market positioning at the end of Q3 last year Marketing is now generating lots of great leads and the Sales team is smashing them out of the park. The results can be seen in the growing number of new clients joining us, the Trust Pilot reviews we’ve been getting and the testimonials.

What exciting challenges are ahead for Team UK?

I wouldn’t call it a challenge, more so a fantastic opportunity but we are about to see the launch of Admin in the UK along with some other fantastic functionalities which will have a huge impact in terms of the customers we will be able to attract and the revenue we will be able to generate, so we are super excited about that. The benefits of vehicle tracking to most is quite obvious and communicating it to prospects can be quite straightforward, however admin and the combination of the package adds another massive layer of benefits to our prospects and clients and communicating this to them will be a great test for our Marketing, Customer Success and Sales functions, which I’m incredibly confident they will meet.

Have you managed to find deep fried haggis in Berlin over the last year?

I did! There is a Scottish Bar in Brunnenviertel called „Hirsch and Hase“ which does deep fried haggis balls with a whisky and peppercorn sauce as a starter. Sehr lecker. It also shows egg chucking on the TV if anyone else is into that.
